My first dilemma with implementing my project could fall under any of the dilemmas, but I think it focuses on the students. The level of understanding of different technologies is vastly different for my students. My school is a magnet school, and because we are located off of two major streets and two El lines, we have students who commute an hour or more one way to get to my school. They come from all walks of life, and their exposure to computer technology spans the spectrum. Trying to have students implement using Garage Band or Audacity, as well as using Java Script, is a dilemma.
My second dilemma has to do with the curriculum. We use Everyday Mathematics, which, in my opinion, is a great curriculum. The pace for the curriculum is very quick, and the way the program is organized makes any separate projects difficult to implement. Each unit has skills that are distributed throughout the unit so that the students are continuously cycling through the skills they should be mastering. If I delay things very often, then the units get too stretched out and there is not enough consistent practice for students to master skills.
